Rentvesting

Rent where you want to live, invest where you can afford.

What is Rentvesting?

Rentvesting is a strategy where you rent in the area you want to live (usually inner-city or lifestyle suburbs) while buying investment properties in more affordable markets — entering the property market without compromising your lifestyle location.

Why it matters for you

Common among young medical professionals, tech workers and urban renters who can't (or won't) commit $1.5M+ to live where they want. You get investment exposure, tax benefits, and flexibility to move. Downside: your PPOR CGT exemption isn't in play, and first-home buyer schemes often disqualify rentvesters.

Let's model the long-term maths
