HECS/HELP Debt

Reduces borrowing capacity for most — but not for medicos under our policy.

What is HECS/HELP Debt?

HECS (now HELP) is Australia's federal student loan program. Repayments are made automatically through the tax system when your income exceeds the threshold — ranging from 1% to 10% of income depending on earnings.

Why it matters for you

Most lenders treat HECS as a hard expense — reducing borrowing capacity by $80K–$120K on a $100K salary. Under Wity's medico policy, HECS can be excluded entirely from the serviceability assessment, restoring that borrowing capacity. A significant benefit for medical and allied health professionals.
