Credit Policy
Every lender's internal rulebook — and why answers differ lender to lender.
What is Credit Policy?
Credit policy is the internal set of rules each lender uses to decide who they'll lend to, how much, and on what terms. Every lender has different policies — which is why the same applicant can be rejected by one and approved at a top-tier rate by another.
Why it matters for you
Matching your situation to the right lender's policy is the difference between "we can't help" and "here's your approval." Brokers who know policy cold (e.g. which lenders accept rental income at 100%, which exclude HECS for medicos) are the ones who get complex deals over the line.
